The Stories Behind the Songs
“Sneaking Hearts”
The Story Behind the Song
When I was 17 and in High School, I met my first wife who was 14. Her father hated me and thought I was too old for her. We were totally in love with each other and we would sneak around to see each other. My moms house had an old oak tree behind it, where we would go and talk about our future. She ended up getting pregnant and at 15 and 18 we got married.
“Religion, Money & Her”
The Story Behind the Song
When I was 19, I went through a divorce with my first wife and I got custody of my two kids. As a Christian, I didn’t believe in divorce. All the money I had saved from working, went to pay for the divorce. Therefore Religion, Money and Her, they all fell apart. She never had anything to do with them. Never called them, saw them, etc. Therefore, I was trying to raise two kids on my own, while trying to deal with my scars and trying to answer the kids questions “Why doesn’t Mom love us? “I raised them in Church and with faith as my anchor, God eventually healed me and I was able to move on.
“Georgia Bulldog”
The Story Behind the Song
When I was 20, I met my second wife. We lived in a small town in Northeast Georgia and met in the Summer of 94. We hit it off immediately and was married within 6 months. One of our favorite things to do was go to the Stone Mountain Lasor Show and going to Fort Yargo Park and swim in the Lake. We later moved to Vero Beach, Florida for a while and then back to the Georgia mountains. We were totally in love with each other and had so much fun together. She really helped me heal and made me whole from loosing my first wife. We were together from June of 94 to Oct of 97 when she met someone else. She had cheated on me while we were together numerous times and I just couldn’t do it anymore. We had two kids together. However, we didn’t divorce until 2001. I really, really tried to work it out and win her back.
“Glory to The King” & “Shadows Deceit”
In 2001, I met my third wife. She was a Sunday School Teacher. She had 4 kids. I hit it off with her kids first and then her. We ended up getting married in 2002. I rededicated my life to Christ and giving it all to his glory. I was growing so fast spiritually and that’s when I first discovered my spiritual gifts of music, teaching and helps. I became a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the Praise and Worship Team, served on the Board of Directors, Secretary of The Men’s Group and became a ministerial student. I was involved in the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Meetings as well as the Youth Ministry. I also first enrolled in Bible College at this time, while raising 6 kids and trying to work. I developed a deep relationship with God and as I would read the bible, he would speak to me and explain to me in layman terms what things meant. Its as if he was lifting the veil to say. I also noticed that as I would lay down beside my wife at night, that every time I got close to her while she was sleeping, she would growl at me. When I would ask her about it, she didn’t believe me. As we talked, she said she use to practice witchcraft before becoming a Christian, that’s when I knew what the problem was.
One night while laying in bed praying before going to sleep, A shadow on the wall appeared to me and the words of the song are exactly what the conversation was between me and demonic spirit. I confronted my Pastor about this issue and myself, him and the youth pastor anointed the house and prayed over her, where Legion, a demonic spirit meaning “many” literally spoke to us as he came out. It was the most eye-opening experience of my life involving how serious the battle is between good and evil as well as Satan and God. We had one kid together and we ended up splitting up in 2007 due to her cheating on me.
“First in Someone’s Life”
The Story Behind the Song
After my third divorce at the age of 23 and trying to raise 6 kids, I was as broken as a man could be. I began counseling for anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Through counseling I learned that because of some childhood traumas, that was the reason I kept searching for a perfect love. My mom and dad were hot for each other when they were young. My mom’s parents didn’t like my dad because he had been married before. My mom ended up getting pregnant with me before mom and dad were married. My grandpa had a car that my dad wanted and my mom wanted my dad so they gave me up for adoption to my grandparents who raised me until they died in the early 80’s. Therefore, this song was written about my deepest desire to be 1st in someone’s life, to have that old-fashioned love, and to have my happy ending.
“Behind That Smile”
The Story Behind the Song
This song was written about the different standards between men and women with mental health issues. When I was growing up the standard was
“boys don’t cry”
“man up”
“boys are tuff”
“men who cry are weak”
Over the years I have watched many good men commit suicide because they tried to be a good man and bottle it up inside them and not talk about the struggles and battles they were facing. This standard needs to change as we are more than muscle and money makers. It’s a standard that makes men sub survive. We feel and bleed too.
“A Shadow in the Hall”
The Story Behind the Song
Bullying has always been a problem, even when I was in school. When my kids were in school, things seemed to escalate. Even today they have escalated to the point were kids are killing themselves from it. This is not acceptable to me. We need to stand up and change this cycle.
“I Miss You Still” & “Taken Away to Soon”
The Story Behind the Song
My mom died on 12-9-23 and these songs reflect my feelings I struggle with loosing her and the memories we shared together.
“Remembering The Good Times”/“Take Me Back to the 80s” & “Sing It All Away”
The Story Behind the Song
Aww yes, the days of mullets, muscle cars, daisy dukes, long hair, leather clothing, Jordache jeans, Atari, BMX, cassette tapes, neon lights, roller skating links, no curfews, Saturday morning cartoons and video arcades. As a Generation X baby, I often sit with my friends and share stories of what it was like growing up. These songs reflect our memories of life growing up in the 1980s. Who could forget calling the radio station to dedicate a song to our girlfriend and waiting for them to announce it and then getting a call from her telling you how much they love you, lol.
“A Fathers Love”
The Story Behind the Song
This song simply reflects my feelings of being a father to my children.
“Booty Groove”
The Story Behind the Song
This song reflects my years of singing and going to clubs and bars. Booty songs are sensual and sensational and have been a favorite among listeners of all genre for decades from the 1980s to now.
“Everytime We Touch”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is about my wife whom I fall in love with more and more everyday. I spent decades looking for a love like this and this song reflects my feelings about our relationship.
“God is Good, All the Time” & “Jesus Will Carry You Through”
The Story Behind the Song
My Pastor before he would begin preaching, would always say “God is Good.” Then the congregation would say “All the Time” and he would say “God is Good.” I believe that to be very true. From my own personal experiences of being given up for adoption, being molested, raped, in trouble with the law, being suicidal, three failed marriages, the loss of my parents, being homeless, a single dad, and having a brain tumor and other medical issues I guarantee that Jesus Can Carry You Through those struggles if you’ll let him and he really is Good All the Time.
“I Surrender”
The Story Behind the Song
I was saved when I was 15 at a vacation bible school in Winder, Ga. However, it wasn’t until I was in my mid 20’s that I totally surrendered my heart and life to God. Oh, what a feeling that was and still is today. There is nothing like surrendering every aspect of your life to Christ and watching him work every aspect of it for the better and for his purpose. Whether you’re struggling with finances, bitterness, anger, lust, hate, loneliness, abandonment, medical issues, etc. God can heal you if you surrender your heart, mind, soul and lifestyle to him. I’m living proof.
“Kristi My Angel” “Little Things”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is about the love of my life, Kristi. Not only is she my wife but my best friend and biggest supporter.
“Slave to the Dollar”
The Story Behind the Song
After Covid hit in 2020, we saw inflation go through the roof. Now in 2025, prices are still high. This song reflects my experience and feelings on trying to make a living and raising a family in these tuff times.
“Proud to be an American”
The Story Behind the Song
I’ve always been very patriotic and very supportive of our military men and women. Over the last decade, I have seen a rise in patriotism in this country. No matter what state Im in, I find people who are concerned about our country and the road its headed down. Almost always they say they would rather die fighting for what they believe in, then surrender to tyranny.
“Going to the Club Tonight”
The Story Behind the Song
There’s nothing like heading to the club on Friday night after grinding all week working 40-60 hrs a week for a boss that is unappreciative of what you do for them. We all look forward to winding down, drinking a few beers and letting it all go for the weekend.
“Why I Keep Loving You”
The Story Behind the Song
I once met a man in Pennsylvania who told me his story. He had a hard life as he had been divorced several times before he met his current wife. He said his wife now was the most loving and kind person he had ever met but no matter how hard he tried, he just keeps breaking her heart by doing stupid things. He said he had built up a wall around him because of all the hurt he had experienced in his past. He said he didn’t understand why she keeps loving him unconditionally, after all the times he screwed up in the relationship. He also said he didn’t understand why he couldn’t just do the right thing, even though he wanted to.
“Leave It at The Cross”
The Story Behind the Song
Throughout my lifetime, I have faced many trials, temptations and demons. The one thing I have learned is “God will Never leave you or forsake you.” (Duet 31:6)
I’ve also learned that God is a better problem solver, than I am. I have learned that if we hand our problems over to God and leave them at the cross, they get handled faster and with better results, than if I would have tried to fix it myself.
“Why Do We Hurt, The Ones We Love”
The Story Behind the Song
When I first got with my current wife, I had been through so many relationships. Most of my friends abandoned me because of my new found faith. My exes left me for richer and more exciting men. I was truly broken inside and did not recognize love when I saw it. My wife taught me what love was, and thank God was patient enough to give me time to recognize it and respond to it.
“I Choose Jesus”
The Story Behind the Song
In this postmodern world we are faced with many idols who are trying to become God of our lives. Lust, Drugs, Alcohol, Success, Money and Food are some of the big ones. We have become a burger king world and want it “Our Way”. Satan is good at making “The God of Me” Philosophy sound good. It a relentless race we battle to feel successful. This song is about that struggle and that I Choose Jesus over all that nonsense and I hope you do too.
“Love Came Down”
The Story Behind the Song
Most of the world think of Christmas as gifts, Santa Claus, snow, reindeer, spending time with family, etc. These are all great things but its not the meaning of Christmas. Christmas represents the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, who was in heaven sitting on the throne, loved us so much that he decided to come down from that throne to earth just to be born humbly in a manger and grow up to be beaten, rejected and crucified so that you and I could be saved, thus the song title “Love Came Down.”
“The Man in The Mirror”
The Story Behind the Song
My son Nathan, had a rough life since he was a little boy. One day when he was 19, he took a long look in the mirror and that magic moment when God opens up for you and lets you see the need for a change happens. He didn’t like “the man he saw in the mirror.” He made a promise to himself to make smarter decisions and be a better man because he was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
“Why Didn’t You Want Me?”
The Story Behind the Song
My dad gave me up for adoption when I was a little boy for a car that my grandpa had. He never had anything to do with me from then until the day he died when I was in my 40s. Over the years after I became a Christian, I would call him occasionally and ask him out to lunch or go fishing but he always said no. This had a lifelong effect on me and even now the question sometimes lingers in my mind of “Why Didn’t He Want Me?” As a father myself, I couldn’t ever imagine not being there for them or loving them.
“Just One More Talk With You”
The Story Behind the Song
I was raised by my grandparents until I was 8yrs old. My grandmother Nila was a dedicated Christian and took me to church every Sunday. She would sing in church and she had the voice of an angel. She gave me the love of music. She use to walk me to the bus stop every day and one day she collapsed while walking me to the bus. A short time after that she passed.
“Love Knows No Age” & “Amor Verdadero
The Story Behind the Song
This is a story of a couple I met one time in Tennessee who despite having a significant age gap, fell in love and raised a family together. Everyone in the community was against them and practically disowned them. However, despite all the critics they lived another 30 something years together happily before he passed and later, I heard just a few years after that she passed away too.
“It’s Not My Fault”
The Story Behind the Song
I have worked in the Ministry and with the homeless for the past twenty years. What I have observed is that the government makes policies to criminalize on people’s bad fortunes. Non-Profits that are suppose to be helping them, makes policies and procedures so strict that it is almost impossible to follow them all. I speak from experience myself as there was a brief time in my life when I was homeless and witnessed these things first hand. It was also the founding principle in which I founded my Non-Profit Organization Mobile Care Ministry Inc. That principle is that we believe that in order to effectively help others in need, that we must address the whole person. Thus we develop programs and services that address the spiritual, physical, mental and intellectual needs of each individual’s circumstances. Like the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“Silent Cries and Bring Them Home”
The Story Behind the Song
Human Trafficking has always been a problem in the world but today we live in a digitalized world that makes this so much more dangerous. In 1990 approximately 15,000 kids were victims of human trafficking. In 2023 approximately 134,000 kids were victims to human trafficking. It is a serious problem and we the people need to stand up together to fight this problem. With such Social Media sights like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Lemon8, Threads, Twitter, Parlar, MeWe, Telegram, Whatsapp, Tiktok, Tinder, the numerous dating sights, and the long reach of the internet it is as easy as pie for young girls to fall prey to predators just lurking around waiting for the moment to hook and bait them. We need to stand up to those who try to block us from protecting our children. We must stop politicians from criminalizing victims and being predators themselves. We must train our faith leaders, first responders and business leaders in recognizing the signs of human trafficking. We must also as parents teach our children about the dangers, what to look for and to supervise their internet and social media accounts. If you want to know more about the subject and resources to help in your community, I have partnered with Shared Hope Int’l for years. Their website is https://sharedhope.org/what-we-do/
“Thank You for Your Sacrifice”
The Story Behind the Song
I have always and will always support our men and women in the Military. These young men and women give their entire hearts and soul to defend our country and precious freedoms. They go through and see so much at a young age from loosing limbs, watching their friends die, leaving their loved ones behind for long periods of time and then dealing with lifelong battles of nightmares and PTSD. Yet when they come back to the country they gave all to defend, it does so little for them. We need to do more! This song reflects my way of telling you “Thank You for Your Sacrifice.”
“Holy Ground”
The Story Behind the Song
There are some things I am very passionate about such as human life, marriages/family, my faith/the church. This song reflects my passion on three of them abortion, divorce and the church. All three are “Holy Ground” according to the Word.
Exodus 3:5 illustrates that a location becomes holy primarily through God’s presence. The command to remove sandals underscored reverence for the sanctified place, a gesture reflecting humility and recognition of the divine. Another parallel example is found in Joshua’s encounter with the Commander of the LORD’s army: “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy” (Joshua 5:15). The presence of the Almighty rendered the ground sacred, signaling that reverence was due. In the narratives involving the Tabernacle (Exodus 25-31) and the Temple (1 Kings 6; 1 Chronicles 28-29), holiness is repeatedly emphasized.
In the New Testament, the concept shifts its focus from physical locations to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit among believers (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). While believers still acknowledged holy sites (such as the Temple in Jerusalem during the time of the apostles), emphasis moved to the truth that God’s Spirit makes an individual or assembly a holy dwelling. See also John 3:16, Matthew 19:6, 1 Peter 2:9, 1 Corinthians 3:17, Revelation 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:1-18, 1 Peter 1:16, Exodus 3:5
“My Forever Song”
The Story Behind the Song
Breaking up is always hard no matter what age you are. Some people come in to your life just to heal you and prepare you for your next partner. This song reflects a time in my life when I was hurting so bad and I met a young lady in Tennessee who I fell in love with but later realized she was there to help heal me and prepare me for continuing Gods purpose and journey in my life. I will always treasure those times we had together and what she did to heal me. She will forever be my “Forever Song.”
“It’s Not Too Late”
The Story Behind the Song
We live in exciting times as I see numerous prophecies being fulfilled all around us. We live in a very fast world. Satan does a great job at keeping us hustling in life so that we don’t have time to meditate and reflect on Gods Word. If we did we would easily see that Satan is a liar and that we live on borrowed time. The end of this life is only the beginning of our eternal existence. The decision we make in this life, will decide our eternal destination. As long as you are breathing in this life, “Its Not Too Late” to make the most important decision you will ever make in your life!
“We’re All Important”
The Story Behind the Song
No matter what job you do, no one is more important than the other. God has a purpose for everyone. See Job 42:2, Romans 8:28, Eccles 3:1, Jeremiah 29:11 and Eph 2:10). Everyone has different gifts and talents that God gave them, when he formed you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139: 13-18). Therefore “Were All Important” to God and we are all just doing our part to fulfill his purpose.
“Cowtown Road”
The Story Behind the Song
This song simply reflects my memories of growing up in a small town in West Virginia called Meadow Bridge on “Cowtown Road.”
“Never Say Forever”
The Story Behind the Song
I met a man one time in Alabama who shared his story with me. He had married his high school sweetheart and they were so happy together. She developed an illness and died. Obviously, it broke his heart. For years he never would date again. Then one day he met a woman and they began talking. Eventually through those talks, he noticed he began healing. He thought the world of her but he didn’t want to get married again. He enjoyed spending time with her but still remembered how hurt he felt when his previous wife died. They made the decision to enjoy each other’s company but to “Never Say Forever” because forever hurts.
“Tight Jeans & Country Dreams”
The Story Behind the Song
No matter where you live in America and no matter your age, every country boy wants to spend time with their friends and beautiful girls in the country. Bonfires, four wheel drives, alcohol, good music, storytelling, laughter and falling in love are the staples to what they feel is a good life. This songs reflects those times in my life and we cant forget that every country boy likes those girls in “Tight Jeans.”
“Hills of West Virginia”
The Story Behind the Song
I moved away from West Virginia in 1986 and moved to Georgia with my mom and sister. I lived away from here for 27 years before finally moving back in 2013 with my oldest son Tim. Over the years, while I was gone, we would come back to visit every year and I just missed it so much. The memories of growing up here, the fun that I had with all my cousins, and the slower pace of life always appealed to me. When I did move back here in 2013, things were different. Different people and faces living in familiar houses, places that were tore down that we use to go to all the time. It was just different but the memories I have in these hills will always be with me and cherished. That’s what this song is about. Its about a simpler time, a simpler life and the love that was planted in my heart here so many years ago.
“Hes A Coal Miner” “The Black on His Face”
The Story Behind the Song
Most of my family were coal miners while I was growing up. Over the years, I have watched many coal miners die or get seriously injured working in the mines. It’s a very dangerous job, from black lung disease, which my grandpa Leonard had to possible explosions and collapses in the mines, everyday a coal miner goes underground they risk their lives. My grandpa Junior was a coal miner and my grandma Anice canned all her food from the garden. This song is an attempt to “Thank you for your sacrifice.”
“Little Church On The Hill”
The Story Behind the Song
In Meadow Bridge, WV, there’s a little church on the hill called Meadow Bridge Pentecostal Holiness Church where my grandma Nila raised me in church as a little boy. That’s where I first learned about Jesus and where I discovered my love for music. My grandma Nila had a wonderful voice and sang all the time there. I remember all the gatherings we had there such as dinners, Halloween games, easter egg hunts on Stella’s hill, and the Christmas plays. That church planted the seed in me that later would bring me to Christ as a teenager. In today’s world a lot of pastors want to be bigger and better which give rise to mega churches such as 12 Stone Church in Gwinnett County Georgia. It is one of the fastest growing churches in America, according to many research groups including Barna Research Group. This song is for all the small churches who sometimes hear the whispers of the devil, that your too small to make a difference. Believe me your not and its not the size that matters, it’s the love and heart of the church as well as the doctrine that is taught. That’s what matters and that’s the difference!
“Route 20”
The Story Behind the Song
This songs reflects my memories and feelings of my grandfather Leonard and his brother James who died in a truck wreck on Route 41 when I was just a little boy. It was the reason I never took a drink of alcohol in my entire life. He was my best friend and hero and I still miss him today almost 45 years later. I used the words Route 20 instead of Route 41 because they sounded better and fit the song style better.
“Bless The King”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is just an upbeat modern pop song about our King, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“Touching Fire”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is just an updated sensual R&B song about intimacy.
“Rock The Night Away”
The Story Behind the Song
This song was just an attempt to recreate an 80s era power metal rock song similar to the best bands ever Poison, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, etc.
“Feel Your Pain”
The Story Behind the Song
This song was wrote from a personal experience of mine back in the late 1990s. I attempted to write in a way that captured the 1980s era of hairband rock. A girl that I was deeply in love with, was with a guy who abused her horribly. The guy was cheating on her with another woman. I truly tried to get her to leave him but she was to scared. I can never understand how any woman or man for that matter could ever take such abuse and stay. I was in an abusive relationship once and I had to walk away. True peace in your life is worth more than all the money or prestige in the world to me.
“Growing Up in Georgia”
The Story Behind the Song
In 1986 my mom, sister and I moved to Georgia after her and my dad broke up. Life was so much different there from Meadow Bridge, WV. This song reflects my time as a teenager from 1986 to 1992 growing up in Winder, Ga. When I was 16, I had a red 1974 Chevy Nova Super Sport and at that time gas was only .69 cents a gallon. From Friday after school to Sunday night about 10:00 pm, my friends and I were on the go. Friday nights at the doghouse club were all the teens would meet, hook up, play pool, play arcade games and jam to music. After school let out every day, all us teens would meet at Holly Hill Mall in Winder. We use to go mudding at City Pond and once I took my AMC Eagle and got that thing stuck. Saturday during the day we would head over to Georgia Square Mall and hook up with girls and just spend the day walking around the mall. Saturday’s nights we went skating at the rink in Athens and hook up with the girls we met at the mall. During summer breaks we would go tubing in Dahlonega or at Hurricane Shoals in Jackson County, Ga. We also would go to Fort Yargo Lake in Winder or to Stone Mountain Laser Show in Stone Mountain, Ga. My mom and I would go to Lanierland Country Music Park at Lake Lanier and watch many country music artists perform. Over the years we saw Conway Twitty, who was my moms favorite artist ever, Loretta Lynn, The Judds, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Charlie Pride, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys and many other legends in Country Music. Where my Grandma Nila started my love for music by her singing and sitting me on her lap and playing old gospel hymns, my mom fueled it through all these concerts we went to. She also was my biggest encourager to pursue music. Over the years she came to many of my performances in school and later when I sang in bars and clubs.
“Lay Down With Me”
The Story Behind the Song
This track is just a song about a man meeting a woman in a crowded room and being intrigued by her. They talk and decide to leave and hook up.
“When The Stars Fade”
The Story Behind the Song
This track is about a friend of mine and his break up with his wife after 27 years of Marriage. After him telling me the story I was inspired to write this song.
“I’ve Been There Before”
The Story Behind the Song
This track is about a conversation my son and I had one evening.
“Born to Break The Rules & Wild and Free”
The Story Behind the Song
Just a fun song I thought of one day while listening to some Hank Williams Jr.
“If Your Gonna Break My Heart, Do It Gently”
The Story Behind the Song
This song reflects a time when I started dating a girl after I had just went through a nasty divorce. I was afraid to open up my heart because it had been shattered many times before. However she was such a good woman, it was hard not to start loving her. So I told her “If Your Gonna Break My Heart, Do It Gently.”
“Snowy Appalachian Christmas”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is simply about my childhood memories of Christmas time in the mountains here in West Virginia.
“Here I Am” & “Dreamers and Rebels”
The Story Behind the Song
I’ve been into music since I got my first guitar at age 12. It was an old Fingerhut special for 69.99 my mom bought for me and it had the worst action ever. I played that thing until my finger’s blead. I knew then I wanted to be a singer and songwriter. However, most of my family and friends said Id never make it. I wasn’t good looking enough, I wasn’t smart enough, etc. My mom was my biggest fan and she always encouraged me to pursue it. After she passed in 2023, I decided to do just that. Here it is now 2026 and this song is for all the doubters that said I couldn’t do it because “Here I Am.” And for all the dreamers out there with friends and family that says you can’t either. Don’t listen to them, follow your heart, your gut and your skills where they take you.
” All I Want for Christmas, is to See You Again”
The Story Behind the Song
My mom died on 12-9-23 and Christmas time at her house was a big thing. The last several Christmas’ without her has been really hard. I wrote this song as Christmas approached in 2025 how “All I want for Christmas is to See You Again.” I miss her so much!
“Can’t Silence Our Voices”
The Story Behind the Song
Over the last twenty years, I have seen a progression of politicians who try in every way imaginable to take our constitutional rights away. I have seen a progression of police officers, district attorneys and judges who bluntly disregard their sworn oaths and violate our constitutional rights on a daily basis. This song reflects my feelings oh how we can stand up against such tyrannies. We have to stand together, become educated about what our founding documents say and become united in our fight against those who disregard them or try to take them away.
“Thank You My Fans”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is simply my way of thanking all of you my fans for supporting me in this journey. I nor any other musician could do what we do, without you our fans. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the love, encouragement and support you have given me over the years.
“Wars in Silence”
The Story Behind the Song
I have known several people over the years, including my uncle who suffered from PTSD after coming back home from War. We can never imagine what are heroes seen and heard when they were overseas in war. Stories I’ve heard are
“I had to kill a kid because he was trying to kill me.”
“My brother beside me had his legs blown off and was begging me for help but there was nothing I could do.”
Stories like these and many others I have been told over the years. These are the kind of things that would stick with a person forever. They do in many of our heroes’ minds. They suffer for the rest of their lives from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and anything cam trigger it. Something they hear, smell, taste, or see. It’s been my experience that most of them suffer from recurring nightmares as well. That’s what this song is about. It’s for all the soldiers who have or do suffer from this terrible disease. I want you know I care and I thank you for your service to our country.
“West Virginia Strong”
The Story Behind the Song
This song was written after the devasting floods of 2016 in West Virginia. I witnessed that flood firsthand and my home was destroyed as well. This song represents my experience and the unwavering passion of West Virginians after the flood. Neighbors really did help neighbors everyday clean up and rebuild after the flood. The title “West Virginia Strong” is a phrase expressing resilience, unity, and pride, commonly used to rally support and show solidarity for West Virginians facing hardships, particularly after the 2016 floods. It signifies the unique identity and enduring spirit of the state and its people.
“You Can Always Count On Me” and “Friends Forever”
The Story Behind the Song
These two songs were songs I wrote for a duet with a friend who is also a professional singer. It’s all about true friendship.
“I Can’t Believe You Want To Throw It Away” and “Stronger in Goodbye”
The Story Behind the Song
These two songs were songs I wrote for a duet with a friend who is also a professional singer. Its all about love and breakups.
“Change in the USA”
The Story Behind the Song
This is also a song I wrote for a duet with a friend. Its also about the current culture in America and how we need to turn back to God if we are going to save our country from its own self destruction.
“Back When The Radio Ruled”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is about my memories of life in the 70s. Families would sit around the radio and listen to shows they were playing. Families would get up and dance in the living room. When driving we’d turn on our old 8 track am radios and find good music to listen to and if we couldn’t we would put an 8track in.
“Let Me Be The One”
The Story Behind the Song
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this story over the years. “He’s Sorry” “It’s my Fault” “I’m Clumsy” “He says he going to change” “He won’t do it again” Honestly, I’m sick and tired of seeing it, hearing the lies and listening to the excuses. I wrote this song to bring awareness to domestic violence. It’s a serious problem and we need to do more than we do.
“We We’re Golden”
I once had a girlfriend and we were so in love with each other. We had big plans to move out west, buy a house with a white picket fence and have some babies and live happy ever after. Obviously, that didn’t happen and sometime “Its just not meant to be.”
“What Does Forever Mean”
In today’s society, it seems like marriage vows mean nothing. This song simply reflects me wrestling with the question and pondering my own divorces and coming to my conclusion of what “Forever” and “I Do” mean.
Don’t Blink It Away”
If I could count the times, I’ve heard parents say “I can’t wait to you grow up and move out!” I’ve heard the same amount of times kids say “I can’t wait till I grow up and I can do what I want!” I’m here to tell you from a father’s perspective myself that YOU WILL MISS THESE DAYS! From the wrestling on the floor with your little ones, to the loudness and chaotic times, you will miss every single moment after they move out. From a kid’s perspective, I know you can’t wait to grow up because I was there too and said the same thing. However, being a responsible adult is not all butterflies and sunshine. With adulthood comes responsibility, bills, hard work, and whole bunch of other life lessons you will have to go through. Don’t be in a hurry to grow up and enjoy your youth because once its gone, you never get it back but wish you could.
“Take It Nice and Slow”
Back in the early 90s when I was playing in bars and clubs in Georgia there was this young woman who followed me from club to club who was a big fan and we had a lot of fun together. This song reflects the memories from our time together.
“I’ll Hold You in My Heart”
We have all experienced the death of a loved one close to us. This song was inspired after a friend of mine from my hometown lost her significant other unexpectedly and from my own experiences of loss.
“Love Me Like You Mean It”
All relationships have problems. A point comes though, when you have to make a decision to stay and love someone like you mean it or pack up and go. That’s what this song is about.
“Doing The Right Thing”
Sometimes love doesn’t work out the way we plan or want it to. Even with the best of intentions, years of counseling and praying. Sometimes it hard to do the right thing and split up even when you know it’s the wrong thing. Divorce is hard, especially when kids are involved. I myself have been divorced three times and this song reflects one of those stories.
Over the years I have watched many good men commit suicide because they tried to be a good man and bottle it up inside them and not talk about the struggles and battles, they were facing.
Even today they have escalated to the point where kids are killing themselves from it.
This song is about my wife whom I fall in love with more and more every day.
No matter what state I’m in, I find people who are concerned about our country and the road it headed down.
Thus, we develop programs and services that address the spiritual, physical, mental and intellectual needs of each individual’s circumstances.
If we did, we would easily see that Satan is a liar and that we live on borrowed time.
Bonfires, four-wheel drives, alcohol, good music, storytelling, laughter and falling in love are the staples to what they feel is a good life. This song reflects those times in my life and we can’t forget that every country boy likes those girls in “Tight Jeans.”
Believe me you’re not and it’s not the size that matters; it’s the love and heart of the church as well as the doctrine that is taught.
This song was written from a personal experience of mine back in the late 1990s.
Over the years we saw Conway Twitty, who was my mom’s favorite artist ever, Loretta Lynn, The Judds, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Charlie Pride, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys and many other legends in Country Music.

“Born to Break The Rules & Wild and Free”

“If Your Gonna Break My Heart, Do It Gently”
The Story Behind the Song
This song reflects a time when I started dating a girl after I had just gone through a nasty divorce.
This song reflects my feelings on how we can stand up against such tyrannies. We have to stand together, become educated about what our founding documents say and become united in our fight against those who disregard them or try to take them away.
“Thank You My Fans”
The Story Behind the Song
This song is simply my way of thanking all of you my fans for supporting me in this journey. I nor any other musician could do what we do, without you, our fans. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the love, encouragement and support you have given me over the years.
It’s also about the current culture in America and how we need to turn back to God if we are going to save our country from its own self destruction.
“The Night I Let You Go”
We all make mistakes in relationships. We all for one reason or another let things go that are good for us in order to seek things that give us more thrill or excitement. I made that mistake once and have regretted it ever since then. This song is for anyone who had a good man or a good woman and for one reason or another let them go in order to seek something that we thought was better but it turned out the “Grass is not greener on the other side.”
